The Spark is a journey of years by many brilliant minds, but the goal remains to be the help, the bridge, and the spark that underrepresented founders need.

The Spark is not a product of one strategic round table meeting. It is, in fact, a result of burden sharing, countless blue sky thinking, and sacrifices over some time. It is an ocean of drops of selfless contributions by minds that dared to believe in the future of entrepreneurship in Africa. 

Perhaps, it is easier to assume The Spark happened because a group of people had some money to spare, but that is far from the truth. The Spark did not occur; it was born and nurtured into what it is today. 

It is the brainchild of enthusiastic young Nigerians who believed they could make an impact with the little they had right where they were. We could not afford to give these founders “the fire,” but we were willing to pool all our resources to give them the spark they needed to scale their businesses.

It has been nine years of building, growing, and showing up, and now we have become more. More Action! More Impact! It has been a long journey, but you have stood by us. 

You have stayed. You have supported. You have cheered. You have believed in our dreams. A dream of igniting the global economy for the underrepresented and bridging the financial wealth gap.

I cannot promise everything, but we will always continue to #BeTheSpark, which lights the way and gives founders the opportunities — funds, community, mentorship, perks, and resources — they need to scale.
